BACKGROUND:  Ken Yu grew up on the streets of China Town.  He managed to avoid the street gangs and organized crime that runs them.  Unfortunately his parents did die while he was young, leaving his maternal grandfather to raise him.  

His grandfather, however, had a secret.  He was an Onmyouji (Japanese seer/wizard), and knew that his grandson would one day receive a magical item.  His grandfather started training him in various mystic and martial arts on Ken's fifth birthday.

 

While the training was not something Ken enjoyed, he respected his grandfather's wishes and did well in school, helped his grandfather around their curio store in the Two Block Market.  He even found time to be a part of his school's drama department.  

It  was in the Drama department that he decided he wanted to be an actor.  After high school, he applied and was accepted to San Corona University, majoring in Theatrical Drama with a minor in business (a compromise with his grandfather).  

While working on a play he came across an old cloak The tattered cloak for some reason called to him and trying it on he was transformed into a hybrid of human and a raven.   The training he has received from his grandfather seems to allow him to control the form, but it still makes him seek out prideful individuals to humble them.

Personality: Ken is still a young adult, still overconfident of his abilities and sure of his world view.  He feels overburdened at times because of the responsibilities that the abilities of the cloak has given him.  He is also torn between following what his grandfather wishes and his own desires to be an actor.

Powers/Tactics: The old cloak has given Ken the physical capabilities of a tengu: Enhanced physical abilities, the ability to see in the dark, and wings that enable him to fly.  He is also able to generate a variety of mystical effects


Appearance: Ken is a nineteen year old college student in good shape.  As Tengu his somewhat lithe form becomes more muscular, he also develops wings and talon feet.  His body becomes covered with dark feathers. 
 
Not in File: Ken would love to be free of the cloak.  It has more influence over him than is readily apparent, often tormenting him to humiliate prideful individuals.  He is able to “tame” it by going after those who are “above the law” but it influences him even when he is not wearing it.  He is also afraid that he finds some enjoyment in it.
