The Defenders of Varadon

This is a page dedicated to my personal Space Marine army Currently the army is under construction and the pictures are WIP's.

Varadon is the Chapter Home World of the Shadow Wolves Reborn.  It was the Chapter World of the original Shadow Wolves, who fell in battle in 987.M41.

When the original Shadow Wolves fell, the Black Templars were on the scene and were able to fend off the Tyranids, but not before the world was nearly destroyed.  The planet became classified as a Death World.  While life still existed, it was extremely barren, some Tyranids still haunted the barren places and the few humans left meeked out life.

The planet has in the last century attracted a strange group of defenders.  A group of squats, who had survived their stronghold’s destruction, settled and created a new stronghold.  They have started to reclaim the planet using ancient technology.  The world is far from healthy but life is reclaiming the barren world.

In 111.M42 Roboute Guilliman, having heard of the heroic last stand of the Shadow Wolves, decided to create a new chapter of Primaris Marines based on the original Shadow Wolves, now known as The Shadow Wolves Reborn.  Varadon would once again be their Chapter World.

SHADOW WOLVES REBORN

The Shadow Wolves are an extremely pragmatic chapter.  Originating from the gene seed of Rogal Dorn, they have embraced a more combined arms approach.  Some chapters have referred to them as “Thrifty” believing that no resource should be underappreciated.

The chapter believes in respecting those who have shown merit.  They are known to show a lot of respect to their “serfs”, treating them as equals.  The basic view can be summarized as “We all have our strengths, it is only wise to capitalize on the strengths of the whole”.

The Chapter believes in diversity of tactics, often fighting similarly to either the Deathwatch or the Raven’s guard (whom they train with)

SHADOW WOLVES AUXILARY

Most Space Marines have the equivalent of a Planetary Defense Force composed of their serfs.  The Shadow Wolves have taken this a step further and created an auxiliary army composed of normal humans that travel with them.  This has proven to be quite effective as the Auxiliary Force has trained with, understands the tactics of, and earned the respect and trust of the Marines, and vice versa.

They are given the best equipment available, often being compared to the heirloom weapons of the Vostroya.

‘RID Slayers

As the Shadow Wolves believe in using any resource they can, it is only logical that they would recruit addition man power from the squats living on their planet.  Many of them have a serious hatred for the Tyranids and see the wolves as brothers in arms.  As may be expected many, of the squats have become almost suicidal, wishing to die in battle.  These squats become known as slayers, often the slayers will join with the wolves to test their ability in battle.

The Slayers tend to fight similar to the Iron Hands chapter of Space Marines
