BACKGROUND: Anthas (aka Coral) is a member of the Guardian Caste of the Aquatic Empire, assigned to the San Corona Embassy. He is from the Kingdom of Pacifica (see species: ningyo).
Most of what is known about Anthas is from his official record:
-
Selected for the Guardian Caste during early education
-
Distinguished himself as a training squad leader
-
Awarded for high distinction during “aquatic nuisance” attacks & border skirmishes
-
Royal Guard training in Atlantis
-
Requested Embassy duty, assigned to San Corona Embassy
-
When I made my “request” for assistance in this project, Anthas was ordered to assist. Of course the Atlantean government will deny their involvement if asked.
Personality/Motivation: All things indicate that Anthas is a good soldier, professional and loyal to his government. Since he arrived in San Corona he is enjoying surface culture, and has a real love for “No Bull Burgers” from Arney's.
Quote: The surface world is such a wonderful chaotic mess.
Powers/Tactics: Anthas is a Ningyo, one of the races of the Aquatic Empire. The race is adapted for underwater survival, including breathing water instead of air, being approximately twice as strong as a surface dweller and having sharp claws.
He however has an amulet that allows him to survive outside of water. It also grants him a more human visage, including legs.
He is also equipped with standard equipment for an Atlantean soldier. This includes a suit of special coral armor and the coral staff. The Staff can generate coral for a variety of effects, primarily a projectile weapon it can also be used to entrap and generate “Coral Slides” for movement.
Note: The Coral Slide power is quite complex in build, but very basic in play. Basically there is the base power that allows him to create slides that let him travel. This is built as flight to allow them to be raised, but they can be attacked. As they are a physical surface, Coral being knocked out does not make them disappear. Furthermore he can spend extra endurance to allow more people to travel with him.
Appearance: In his natural form Anthas resembles most Ningyo. He has a body similar to a traditional merman, but with silver scaled skin across his entire body, clawed hands and a more fish like face. His amulet transforms him into a passable human, however the eyes remain strait black in color (no iris)
His armor appears to be a type of plate mail made from coral.
Not in File: When Anthas was training in Atlantis he fell in love with a young noble woman. While these dalliances are not unheard of, Anthas became a target for some of her political rivalries. He was transferred to San Corona in part for his interest in the surface world but also to get him away from the royal court.
Primer on the Aquatic Empire: The Aquatic Empire is the oldest civilization on earth. Founded in prehistoric times by the survivors of the sunken continent of Atlantis. When Atlantis sank the decedents of the twelve brothers who originally founded the society were saved by Poseidon. They were however transformed into four different races (Atlanteans, Mermen, Fishmen and Ningyo). The four races, with the entire ocean at their disposal spread out.
The various societies all owe fealty to Atlantis, but are fairly independent. The society is caste based with a dozen different castes. Each Aquatic is placed in a specific caste based on the decision of the Children of Poseidon (the religious caste) during their childhood. Once placed in a caste they are trained for their eventual role in society.
