I am writing this because, in truth, I need to start blogging more. I suffer from a form of depression and I use things to distract me from it, one of which is this website and gaming in general. Unfortunately I also have ADHD which makes it very easy for me to get distracted with the next distraction and leave things like this blog alone for way to long.
Depression is a monster, one that will tear you apart from the inside worse than the Tanesque from D&D. Like some undead horror it will always come back no matter how much you feel you have defeated it. Unfortunately there is a stigma about mental illness (including depression) that you don't talk about it, especially if you are male. We think of depression as having the blues, this is not true, it is a feeling of hopelessness that nothing will ever get better that refuses to go away. Men have a tendency to lash out when they are depressed, I don't know if it is biology, sociology, or a mix of both but we tend to want to scream and holler, fight instead of the flee or freeze. I know it has been hard on those I love dealing with this monster....
Anyways, so I use gaming to avoid those feelings. recently I started to get into Warhamemr 40,000 for a variety of reasons. First it is the feeling of accomplishment that I can feel when I get a unit built and painted, second it is because I feel that I will be able to have more opponents in the local area. When I am done getting my basic army together I also plan on looking into some other miniature games that I have friends who play (Warmachine/Hordes is a strong possibility).
Other projects I have started is a You tube channel called Kountry Gaming of ND https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNBO42rh1ksbFlXhwELEFfg and trying to get my wife to start her own youtube channel. I have not completely abandoned the web page however and I plan on a few new contents coming soon. Including regular Blogs about my gaming (Probably Sunday Mornings) and fleshing out my other RPG stuff. I am currently working on an organization for my Super Hero Universe called the Star Knights that will be posted in pieces as I complete them.
